Cup & Cook reach 100k Hey You Orders
We want to let you in on a little secret: there is a hidden gem in Southern Sydney, in the picturesque suburb of Kyle Bay named Cup and Cook. It’s a beautiful cafe that is coincidentally also one of the most successful Hey You partner venues.
Kyle Bay takes its name from the bay that sits on the northern shore of the Georges River. It has a leafy suburban character, scenic riverside reserves, and parks that give you that lovely nature feel.
The people behind Cup and Cook’s success are owners Matt & Jansci Oxenham who have deep roots in the Sydney hospitality industry. Meeting while working side by side making cocktails at the iconic Sydney multi-level Burdekin Hotel in the ’90s, they realised they had a passion for hospitality and each other—and their collective drive to conceptualise and create led them to managing multiple successful dining venues.
Matt and Jansci are one of the early adopters of the platform Hey You, understanding that using technology in their business has a lot of benefits: it creates powerful connections through mobile apps, increases employee efficiency, and builds another channel for growth. Matt explains, “Hey You is an integral ordering platform for our business and it’s affordable. We wouldn’t ever change it as it's a great service for hospitality owners.”
While integrating technology can be daunting for businesses, the chance of being able to cater to more orders when your venue is fully-seated, or accommodating members of the community who prefer to order ahead to avoid long wait times provides a broader and better customer experience. “We knew we had to communicate this with our customers so that they could pre-order their coffee and food and avoid queues by using the app and that would have a long-term positive impact for customers and our service,” Jansci explains.
Their mindset of continued growth, excellence, and using Hey You tools to their advantage has seen them achieve over 100,000 orders on the app. “We work extremely hard, we put in the effort to continually train our staff. How to understand the timing is also so paramount, especially if there's multiple selections.” Matt expounds further, “To be able to do 100k orders is a huge, huge milestone for us. We genuinely care about how we explain to new customers what the Hey You app offers and how it helps us and them, and we’re proud of that.”
As for what to expect in the future from Cup and Cook as we move to normalcy, “We offer incredible Gabriel coffee and guest roasters each month, and you can enjoy lazy all-day breakfasts, beautiful lunches inspired by clean eating and seasonal produce, all in a cool industrial-vintage setting,” a jovial Matt explains. “But if you’re coming in for the first time, just have a seat and enjoy everything our cafe has to offer.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves and we suspect they will get to 200,000 orders in no time.
